Honors 210A:
Feminisms, Fictions, Fashions, and Fabrics.
The basic premise of this class was to explore all the different connotations that go into making cloth while being in a learning environment based on feminist doctrine of collaborative learning. Honestly, before this class, feminists really freaked me out. At first it was hard to embrace the fierce feminist agenda of both my professors, but the content and structure of the course was so engaging- it eventually put me at ease.
The whole was based on making- and instead of responding to concepts with writing or homework problem sets- we responded by elaborating on a single product for the entire course: a cloth book. While exploring fictions, sweat shops, the semi-secret injustices of the KKK, queer stigmata, and many other topics we learned to dye fabric, embroider, knit, applique, quilt, silk screen and bind our books. The entire course culminated in our own art show called "Threaded Protest". This was the first class I've taken at UW that didn't feel like work. I couldn't wait to craft, and found it easy to push the bounds, go above and beyond and think outside of the box.
Pictures of my cloth book/quilt to come.

MArketing 450: consumer behavior
Consumers are curious creatures and their purchasing behavior can have drastic socioeconomic consequences. Moreover, if business can study the consumer and learn more about how they behave in regards to purchasing a good or service they would have a strategic advantage in the market. The content of this course was fascinating and changed my perspective on my personal shopping tendencies. The course culminated a group project where students had to pick a topic from the course and write an extensive review paper on the subject. My group decided to look at how marketing in America influences a females body image and behavior.
